Carmen’s Kitchen in Bacolod City

Enjoy yourself at the Masskara Festival in Bacolod this October. It is one of the biggest holidays in the nation. But, surprisingly, for more than 40 years, the festival has given both locals and visitors from other countries a chance to have fun, drink, and party on the streets of Bacolod.

There are many things to do at the MassKara Festival, including attending the annual beauty contest featuring the MassKara Queen, carnivals, drum and bugle corps competitions, sporting activities, musical performances, agricultural trade fairs, and gardening displays.

You must eat at Carmen’s Kitchen to appease your hunger and satisfy your palate while enjoying Masskara Festival. Without dining at Carmen’s Kitchen, a day at the Masskara Festival is not complete. The Manalotos own Carmen’s Kitchen, which is the newest “it” restaurant for tourists and locals who are attending the Masskara Festival. In addition to the mouthwatering meal, I like Carmen’s Kitchen’s spacious, hygienic, and cozy atmosphere.

Manaloto siblings, Mikay and Mark, together with the Negrense Bloggers

The restaurant’s owners are actively involved in the restaurant’s day-to-day operation, with one helping to prepare the meals while the other is busy running the business. The quick, friendly, and helpful customer service is another perk. That’s why it makes sense that they have already caught up to more renowned local restaurants.

The excellent meal is still the main reason why people must eat at Carmen’s Kitchen. Dynamite shrimp, steak frites, hot prawn salad, crispy Kare-Kare, cansi steak, pepper steak, shrimp scampi, Brazilian ribeye salpicao, chicken burger, and many other dishes are among their specialties.

Quan Delicacies Bacolod

We Filipinos are well-known for our insatiable love for food. Aside from having the regular breakfast, lunch, and dinner, most of us also have snacks in between those meals.

Perhaps no other type of snack foods are as popular to us Pinoys as the kakanin. Usually sold by a Bilao-carrying vendor making rounds around the neighborhood, these kakanins are delicious home-cooked desserts that are very affordable at the same time.

In Bacolod City, you don’t have to wait for that elusive seller just to get a dose of these traditional Pinoy merienda staples.    You can have them any time of the day if you will check out Quan Delicacies.

Owned by Tita Agnes Aguirre Cuenca and managed by her daughter Chole Cuenca Chua, Quan has established itself as a favorite food shop for many in Bacolod.

Whether you are looking forward to having a quick Merienda with your barkada or are planning to bring home a pasalubong for your loved ones, Quan is absolutely the ultimate destination for anyone craving for homegrown (and even a few foreign) treats.

Kakanin and More…

First off, Quan is home to the best selling Napoleones – basically a bite-sized Pinoy croissant filled with sugar glazing and custard cream. If you are someone with a sweet tooth, then it will be very easy for you to like this one.

Another famous Visayan snack here is the Silvana. This yummy and chewy kakanin have captivated the taste of both the young and old.

Other Quan offerings you will likely enjoy include the Bibingka, Empanada, Kalamay-Hati, Kutsinta, Panara, Sapin-Sapin, Suman Pandan and many more.

Love foreign-inspired snacks? Well, they have a wide variety of selections for you too, ranging from brownies and walnut bars, to Chicken Pies and Pepper Rolls, to lasagnas and tarts.

Want Some Heavy Meals?

If you feel like devouring something heavier, you can instead go order a Palabok which is, of course, best enjoyed with a glass of ice cold Coke as your beverage.

Or you can ask for a Pork Dinuguan and have it with several pieces of Puto on the side. The contrast between the sweetness and sourness will definitely leave a thrilling delight in your mouth. Customers and bloggers alike have heavily praised Quan’s take on this popular dish for its unique taste and texture. In fact, some are claiming that this is the best Dinuguan they’ve tasted in Bacolod.

From the interiors to the food, WEEGO’s style is reminiscent of the Bacolodnon culture, filled with life and color.
